Sports Medicine and Shoulder Service

The Sports Medicine and Shoulder Service at HSS is a team of 31 physicians dedicated to treating athletic injuries of the musculoskeletal system, with a special focus on shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and foot and ankle injuries. We field more than 45,000 patient visits each year and perform more than 6,500 surgeries.

The Service is committed to providing a broad continuum of care to the athlete over the course of his or her career. It is our responsibility to see a patient through the consultation, surgical, and rehabilitation process, mindful of the athlete’s current and future performance needs. To that end, the Service also offers physical therapy, performance, sports psychology, and nutrition services.

The Service:

• Is comprised of 25 Sports Medicine orthopedic surgeons and 11 non-surgical physicians specializing in shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and foot and ankle injuries.
• Has trained more than 100 of the Sports Medicine leaders in institutions all over the world.
• Serve as team physicians and athletic trainers for 16 professional and college teams
• Is focused on basic and clinical research with special focus on the ACL
