Hornets' West has Surgery on Torn ACL

New Orleans Hornets forward David West had successful surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn left ACL. The team announced that he underwent the surgery in New York City and it was performed by Dr. David Altchek at Hospital for Special Surgery.

He is expected to make a full recovery with rehabilitation to take six to eight months, meaning he could be ready for the start of next season.

The eight-year pro sustained the injury while coming down from a dunk in the final minute of the fourth quarter of a 121-117 overtime victory over Utah on March 24.

He came down hard on the game-tying dunk, buckling his left knee, and had to be carted off the court in a wheelchair.
